Between 2007 and 2009 I lived in Brussels, Belgium. I met many people with diferents paths, ambitions, or various lifestyles. This set of photographs shows the daily life of some residents of an autonomous district called "La baraque".

In 1972, the district of La Baraque was destined for demolition. Some people refused to leave their homes, and set against the city plan of demolition to build new structures.

Three sites were "squatted" by students, with the approval of the owner.

Then, appeared the first "homes"; old caravans, buses, wooden houses..... These unusual neighborhood were finally allowed and called the district of "La Baraque". It benefits a special status, hard-won by its inhabitants in 1985.
